Nowhere as good a place as any 

California light in the late afternoon visibly hums and shimmers in a dreamy haze, bouncing off light poles, palm fronds and passing cars.

All the colors are amped up. Shadows are longer. Empty spaces seem a bit more empty. Shouts brazen in the bright light of day turn softer. Plans get made for later or broken.
